Summary

The mental health of Americans, Australians, Britons, and Canadians has been significantly lower than prior to the COVID-19 pandemic for eight consecutive months. Regional mental health scores showed improvement from April to July, but declined from July to August, and have been inconsistent since. In November, mental health declined in the US and UK, while modest improvements were observed in Australia and Canada. The proportion of individuals reporting more stress than the prior month is high in all four geographies, with Canada showing the greatest increase. The pandemic has caused increased strain on workplaces and employees, with many reconsidering how they conduct business. Approximately one-quarter of respondents indicate that the pandemic led them to consider a job or career change. Workplace health and safety has risen to primary importance, with approximately seven in ten respondents believing their employers are handling it well. Parents' greatest fear is the mental health of their children, with quality of education, physical health, childcare/work balance, and safety of attending school also being major concerns.
