Purpose: This document outlines the steps for pharmacy staff to retrieve, download, and dispense private electronic prescriptions (e-prescriptions) obtained through signatureRx (www.signaturerx.co.uk). It ensures a consistent process across all authorized dispensing staff.

Scope: This SOP applies to the following:

Retrieving and downloading signatureRx e-prescriptions from patients presenting with a Prescription ID.
Dispensing private e-prescriptions in accordance with relevant regulations and procedures.

Index:

1. Receiving and Transferring the Prescription ID: Patients or their representatives present a unique Prescription ID on their smartphone (via email or messaging) to the pharmacy counter. Counter staff write this ID along with the patient's date of birth on paper and securely transfer it to dispensary staff for e-prescription retrieval.
2. Retrieving and Downloading the E-Prescription: Dispensary staff access signatureRx website (www.signaturerx.co.uk), enter the Prescription ID and patient DOB, and click 'SEARCH FOR PRESCRIPTION'. They verify prescription details and download a PDF dispensing token for reference and record keeping.
3. Dispensing the E-Prescription: After confirming clinical accuracy, price confirmation with the patient (or their representative), and medication availability, dispensary staff click 'DISPENSE' on the signatureRx webpage. They then input pharmacy information to ensure each prescription is dispensed only once.

Special Considerations:

Fraud Suspected: Follow these steps:
Contact the prescriber or clinic listed on the prescription.
Report suspected fraud to signatureRx via their contact form at signaturerx.co.uk.
Inform relevant authorities as per pharmacy guidelines.
* Pharmacies Outside England: This SOP follows The Human Medicines Regulation 2012 across the UK (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland). Private e-prescriptions can be dispensed nationwide.

Contingency Plan: If access to signatureRx is unavailable, follow alternative procedures outlined in Version 1.1 of this document.
