Summary

This study examines the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and operational risk in Chinese listed companies. The results show that companies that improve their social responsibility fulfillment face significantly lower operational risk, while publishing independent social responsibility reports can increase operational risk. The study also finds that high-risk companies can reduce their operational risk by improving their social responsibility fulfillment, but publishing independent social responsibility reports can lead to increased operational risk. The findings suggest that CSR can help reduce operational risk, and that companies should focus on fulfilling their social responsibilities rather than just disclosing them.
