Summary

Das Haus Simma in Egg wurde von 2007 bis 2011 ökologisch saniert und erweitert. Der Altbau aus den 60er Jahren war schlecht isoliert und hatte einen eigenartigen Grundriss. Die Sanierung beinhaltete die Erhaltung des Erdgeschosses und die Anhebung des Dachraums um ein halbes Geschoss. Als Isolation wurden Strohballen verwendet, die Außenfassade wurde mit typischen Schindeln für den Bregenzerwald verkleidet. Die Fenster sind konisch und auf den Lichteinfall bedacht in die nunmehr achtzig Zentimeter dicken Wände eingeschnitten. Der Eingang wurde vom Norden auf die schönere Seite im Süden verlegt und das Raumkontinuum wurde grundlegend umorganisiert. Auffallend sind die Details und eine Akzentfarbe in Variationen von Grün. Energie- und ökologische Aspekte wurden bei der Sanierung berücksichtigt, wie die thermisch gut gedämmte Hülle, Lüftungsanlage mit Wärmerückgewinnung und der zusätzliche Kachelofen, der den Niedrigenergiestandard erreicht. Für die Bestandserweiterung wurden nur natürliche Baustoffe verwendet.
