As movers, we will develop our ability to identify space, range of movements, throwing, catching, team/invasion games, multi-skills/football, gymnastics, rolling, jumping, landing, point balances, routines. We will also establish and embed good hygiene, toileting, and hand-washing routines.

In PSHE, we will look at relationships and friendship, developing positive relationships with peers and teachers, understanding why friendship is important, and what it means to be a good friend. We will also explore rules and expectations, internet safety, and how to stay safe online.

In art, we will use Access Art, Draw & Explore to develop ideas as artists and designers, introducing the concept that artists can be collectors and explorers. We will make self-portraits and focus on Alberto Giacometti.

In music, we will use Changa YR 1 'Hey You!' to learn about pulse, rhythm, and pitch, and to learn how to rap and enjoy it in its original form.

In maths, we will use White Rose Maths planning to look at place value, numbers to 20 for Year 1 and numbers to 100 for Year 2. We will sort, count, and represent objects, learn basic counting, and use problem-solving and reasoning.

In science, we will look at ourselves and our senses, why they are important, and how the Earth moves and seasonal changes.

In technology, we will look at different computing systems and networks, discuss online safety and bullying, and learn how to log on and off.

In humanities, we will investigate places, communicate geographically, and look at our local area, identifying key features to determine whether it is a city, town, village, coastal, or rural area.

In history, we will look at changes within living memory, understand chronology, and recount changes that have occurred in our own lives. We will focus on Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale and celebrate Black History Month.

In English, we will start with daily phonics sessions using Bug Club Phonics and associated reading materials, looking at Phase 4, adjacent consonants, consolidation, and common irregular words/high-frequency words. We will have weekly guided reading sessions, exploring high-quality texts, and as writers, we will listen to, retell, and sequence familiar stories.

In RE, we will learn about faith, belief, and senses, and attend collective worship and participate in classroom prayers. We will show care and concern for special people in our lives, show awe and wonder of creation, and learn about the festivals of Harvest and Sukkot.

In expressive arts and design, we will blend, segment, digraph/trigraph, tricky words, listen, respond, question, discussion, formation, journey, sort, count, represent, characteristics, classification, place value, and learn about mechanism, expressive arts, and design.
