ACSP navigates architecture as a critical spatial, political, cultural, and social tool, drawing on the relationship between architecture and related disciplines to reinvigorate architecture with cultural, social, and political criticism. The program aims to provide a re-injection of vital, critical discourse into the field, and is devised as a space for broad discourses, allowing students to experiment with diverse discursive tools and techniques. Critical Spatial Practice is a means of rethinking professional practice and codes of conduct, enhancing the singular approach of architecture with a complex field of interests, methods, and lines of attack. The program investigates publishing as a tool for spatial speculation, and understands itself as a test ground for ideas, promoting publishing as an activated medium to invigorate architecture. The annual theme, "Cultures of Assembly," inquires into the complex narratives around political congregation spaces and the notion of agonistic encounter, exploring how to imagine, devise, and design a space of politics.
