Summary

Enfield Elementary School Art Teacher Christine Finnigan and community partner artist Jay Stooks created an "Artful Math Mural" with students, combining math and art, using triangles, squares, and rectangles with color gradients, allowing students to count and measure shapes. Fourth- and fifth-graders collaborated on the project, participating in all stages, from priming to painting. The mural is located in a hallway where younger kids can see it daily. Finnigan also received an IPEI Red and Gold Grant to create a number timeline using painted tiles, engaging third- through fifth-grade art classes, to help Pre-K and Kindergarteners learn numbers.
