Researchers from Michigan State University and University of Colorado Boulder conducted a study on organizational change strategies in ADVANCE Institutional Transformation projects, focusing on recruitment, retention, and success of women scholars in STEM fields. The study analyzed data from 19 institutions that received ADVANCE IT awards in Rounds 1 and 2, and later conducted a working meeting with leaders from institutions that received awards in Rounds 3-6. The meeting aimed to disseminate research findings, gather feedback, and gather data on organizational change processes. The study identified key factors in effective change processes, including consideration of context, leadership, alliances, communication, and the use of theory and research. The researchers found that context plays a crucial role in determining the effectiveness of interventions, and that institutions should consider their unique context when selecting and implementing change strategies. The study's findings are presented in a web-based resource, the StratEGIC Toolkit, which includes 13 Strategic Intervention Briefs and 15 Institutional Portfolios.
