Summary

The CRESEL project, a partnership between the Association of Alaska School Boards and other organizations, aims to improve culturally responsive social, emotional, academic, and behavioral outcomes for Alaskan students. In the first year, seven participating districts hired and trained Social and Emotional Learning Champions, developed district-level SEL plans, and established culturally responsive school environments. Highlights of the first year include community dialogues, tools and technical assistance, and adaptations and lessons learned, with a focus on culturally responsive and embedded social and emotional learning.
