Summary

This thesis is a qualitative research study using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to explore the psychological adjustment process of West African men after a myocardial infarction. The study aims to generate an account of the participants' experiences, capturing their cognitive appraisal and coping strategies, to inform health professionals about specific psychological care needs and increase service access and acceptability to this patient group. The research consists of three chapters: the first introduces the research area, the second describes the methodology, and the third presents the results in the form of emergent and super-ordinate themes.
