Tees Valley Education's (TVED) curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all children, with a focus on academic progress, inclusivity, and narrowing gaps in reading, vocabulary, and oracy. The TVED Long Term Curriculum Map outlines the trust's intent to provide a knowledge-rich, national curriculum-based education, with defined pathways for mainstream, unit, and specialist provision. The curriculum aims to develop pupils holistically, building on prior knowledge, and fostering curiosity, aspirations, and cultural capital.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is progressive and coherently planned, with a focus on developing communication and language skills, and building resilience, self-regulation, and independence. The characteristics of effective learning are at the heart of the EYFS curriculum, which includes areas of development such as personal, social, and emotional development, physical development, and communication and language.

The Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED) aspect of the curriculum aims to provide opportunities for pupils to develop a positive sense of self, create strong relationships, and manage their emotions. By the end of nursery and reception, pupils are expected to develop skills in co-operation, conflict resolution, and self-regulation, and understand how to deal with mistakes, follow rules and routines, and celebrate others' achievements.

The PSED direct teaching is organized into three terms, with topics such as self-regulation, managing self, and building relationships, and includes activities designed to promote independence, perseverance, and positive relationships. The overall goal of the TVED curriculum is to enable pupils to communicate effectively, become independent learners, and prepare them well for the next stage of their education, future lives, and employment.
