Summary

IITE has been involved in 11 research projects on ICT application in education since January 2000, including distance education, special needs education, and education via the Internet. The Institute has arranged 14 international expert meetings and research seminars, prepared four analytical surveys and over 10 reports, and initiated seven national and one sub-regional pilot projects. IITE has also developed a methodological basis, elaborated and tested its educational/training program, and launched regular training sessions, including a two-month high-level seminar. The Institute continues to create a clearinghouse and an international network of national focal points for cooperation, and its information system, including a website and an interactive tool, is in progress. IITE plans to pursue priorities in applied research, training, and dissemination, aiming to strengthen national capacities for ICT usage in education, provide educational personnel with state-of-the-art reviews and analyses, and develop innovative approaches to learning and teaching with ICTs.
