This study explores pedagogic translanguaging practices in an online beginner-level foreign language classroom, examining the movement between communicative modes and features of different languages to enhance learning. The research reveals that teacher participants closely follow pedagogic prescriptions, offering limited opportunities for students to engage in translanguaging, and that instances of student code-switching are relatively few. The study concludes by calling for the integration of pedagogic translanguaging opportunities into online foreign language classroom activities to enhance teaching, learning, and communication.
