## District Educational Improvement Committee Meeting Summary - January 24, 2022

1. TCLAS Grant Update:

Texas COVID Learning Acceleration Support (TCLAS) grant focused on improving data-driven assessment at classroom, campus, and district levels.
Kenny Westmoreland hired to manage grant; will replace current TES position.
Grant funding for 2-3 years with limited uses: central office administrator position only. No questions were asked.

2. Teacher Incentive Allotment Update:

Program in development to incentivize teacher designations through detailed TTESS evaluations and increased student growth measures.
Designations will require a lengthy application process; more updates at next meeting.

3. District Calendar Drafts - Review & Feedback:

Five draft calendars presented for 2022-2023 school year:
Draft A (Status Quo): Start date: 4th Monday in August, Last day: May 24th with professional development day on May 25th.
Draft B: Adjusted Christmas break, final exams over three days with early release, rest of schedule similar to Status Quo.
Draft C: Increased school day by 10 minutes, extra planning time, and dedicated professional development days every six weeks.
Draft D (District of Innovation): 450-minute days; potential exemption from starting date requirements; 9-week grading periods (second quarter to Christmas break, third quarter to spring break, final quarter ending May 24th).
Draft E (District of Innovation with 460 Days): Similar to Draft D but with 6-week grading periods and more flexibility in calendar shortening.
Members discussed pros and cons of each draft; consensus around Drafts D and E as preferred options.
Dr. Becker will narrow down to 2-3 preferred calendars, encourage members to create edited versions for final review and vote before submitting to faculty, staff, and community.
