The Journal of the Council of Writing Program Administrators, WPA: Writing Program Administration, is published twice a year by the Council of Writing Program Administrators and the Department of English at Illinois State University. The journal is edited by Douglas Hesse, with Eric Martin as Managing Editor and Ann Greenseth as Editorial Assistant. The Editorial Board consists of various directors and professors from different universities. The journal publishes articles, essays, and reviews concerning the organization, administration, practices, and aims of college and university writing programs. Submissions should be 2000-5000 words, suitably documented using the current MLA Style Manual, and anonymously reviewed by the Editorial Board. The journal also publishes an annual review of textbooks and accepts relevant announcements and calls for papers. The Council of Writing Program Administrators is a national association of college and university faculty who serve or have served as directors of freshman composition or writing programs. The journal includes a call for 1996 Research Grant Proposals to investigate the intellectual work of the WPA, with maximum awards of $2,000. The contents of the Fall/Winter 1995 issue include articles on instructor's manuals, narrative cases in TA and faculty development, portfolios across the curriculum, outcomes assessment, and the writing studio program.
