The Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies (FCCS) Teaching Awards recognize teaching excellence and innovation, with one award given annually to a faculty member. Nominations are accepted throughout the year, with a deadline of August 15th, and winners are announced in late October or early November. Eligible nominees include all faculty members, except those who have won the award in the past two years. The nomination process involves submitting a form and a confidential letter of support from a student, as well as evidence of teaching excellence and/or innovation, which may include teaching evaluations, letters of support, course syllabi, and project descriptions. The award is based on strengths in four or more of the following areas: excellence in teaching, scholarship of teaching and learning, student guidance and support, pedagogical practice, advancement of the faculty's strategic goals, innovative instructional methods, curricular innovation, success in achieving instructional goals, and dissemination of teaching innovation.
