Harlingen Collegiate High is a partnership with UTRGV, offering a rigorous curriculum for 11th and 12th graders to engage in college experience. It's an open enrollment campus, available to anyone interested. The school day starts at 7:55 AM and ends at 3:45 PM, with the mascot being the "Owl". Applications are submitted electronically through the HCISD webpage, and students are selected based on a rubric considering grades, STAAR, attendance, and discipline records. Freshman schedules typically contain seven periods, including English, Geometry, World Geography, Biology, Spanish, PE, and electives. 11th and 12th graders are fully enrolled in college-level courses through UTRGV, earning 48 college credit hours. The Academic Core is transferable to any public university in Texas. The school offers pathways in Education, Engineering, and Computer Science, but no traditional electives. Students must be TSI compliant by the end of their sophomore year, and can participate in extra-curricular activities at neighboring campuses, but must secure their own transportation.
