Summary

The study analyzed citizens' age and perception of the police in Trinidad and Tobago, a post-colonial society. The findings highlighted that citizens' age was imperative in shaping their perception of the police, with younger adults having negative experiences due to police use of force, lack of respect, and profiling. Mature adults held less favorable perceptions due to officers' involvement in delinquent activities. Socioeconomic status also influenced perception of the police. The study suggested that police institutions can utilize these concepts to improve relationships between citizens and the police.
