This course will cover the quantum circuit model of computation, quantum algorithms, and the limits of quantum computation. The quantum circuit model is based on classical Boolean circuits, reversible classical circuits, and randomized computation. Any Boolean function can be computed by a Boolean circuit using AND, OR, and NOT gates, and these gates are universal. The size of the circuit corresponds to running time in the Turing Machine model. The course will also cover the use of ancillas and the universality of NAND and DUPE gates.
