Literacy & Language:

Autumn Term: Focus on classic stories like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, and Where the Wild Things Are. Introduction to poetry with What the Ladybird Heard.
Spring Term: Continue story exploration with 3 Billy Goats Gruff, Lost and Found, and Beegu. Introduce non-fiction texts through Rainbow Fish and learn about plants, animals, and human body parts.
Summer Term: Develop narrative skills through creating own stories inspired by Man on the Moon and Katie Morag. Study maps and directions, leading to a project on local geography (Leicester, Leicestershire, and the coast).

Mathematics:

Autumn Term: Place value within 10, addition & subtraction within 10. Introduce basic geometry: shapes.
Spring Term: Place value within 20, addition & subtraction within 20. Multiplication & division basics. Fractions introduction.
Summer Term: Place value within 50, extension to multiplication and division. Measurement: length, height, mass, volume. Time and money concepts.

Science:

Throughout Year: Explore plants (structure, wild vs. garden, tree identification, evergreen and deciduous), animal classifications (carnivores, herbivores, omnivores), and human anatomy (body parts, RSHE).
Focus on Growth & Change: Plant growth, seasonal changes, and understanding the impact of environment on plants.

The Arts:

Art: Inspired by flora and fauna through spirals, printmaking, watercolor exploration, bird making.
Design Technology (DT): Cooking (bread making, smoothies, rainbow salad), tree sculpture creation, wheeled vehicle design and construction.
Music: Listening, appraising, musical activities, performing. Introduction to digital painting and basic programming with a robot.

Social, Moral, & Cultural Learning (SMCL):

PSHE: Identity, relationships, health, money management, safety, and environmental responsibility.
RE: Exploration of different beliefs, special places, worship practices, and stories from diverse worldviews.
Online Safety: Self-image, identity, privacy, online relationships, health & wellbeing, and digital literacy.

Physical Education (PE):

Real Gym: Cognitive skills development through dance, agility, balance, coordination, and ball handling.
Fundamental Movement Skills: Athletics, basketball fundamentals, multi-sports introduction. Emphasis on teamwork, rules, and individual skill development.
