Summary

This study analyzes Multiple Modification in Slavic, Germanic, and Romance languages, based on the theory of Cinque (1999, 2010), where multiple modification of Adjectives and Adverbs are specifiers, and Adjectives are heads of their own projection. The distribution and order of multiple modifiers in a DP are compared with the approach of Pereltsvaig and Kagan (2018) and Svenonius (2008), assuming a hierarchy of adjectives depending on functional projections, such as NumP, DegP, and QP. The study argues for a 1:1 mapping of semantic classes of Adjectives onto syntactic representation, and examines the phenomenon of multiple modification of Nouns in complex Noun Phrases via Adjectives, considering semantic considerations and syntactic positions in languages like French, Polish, and Russian.
