We prepare for power outages.

The notice of a power outage can come with a warning time of a few days, or just before the outage. The office will contact the teacher as soon as the information is received.

Teaching will be carried out according to the normal schedule despite the power outage. Teaching will be adapted to the situation with suitable methods and tools. If teaching cannot be held, it will be either cancelled or rescheduled. The decision to cancel a course will be made together with the teacher.

A message about the power outage will be sent to course participants only if the teaching is cancelled. Text messages and/or email will be used if they are functioning. The mobile network will work for about 15 minutes after the power outage starts.

Each teacher will be given a flashlight. Please keep it with you during the course in case of a power outage.

Remember during a power outage:
- Avoid using the toilet to prevent problems with the sewage system
- Burning candles is prohibited, use a flashlight instead
- Guide course participants to use their mobile phone's flashlight
- Keep your mobile phone charged
- Dress warmly
- When the course ends or when you need to leave the premises during a power outage, exit last, close the doors, and ensure everyone has left.
- Since elevators do not work during a power outage, ensure the safe exit of course participants with mobility issues and do not let them use the stairs without assistance. If necessary, call 112.
- Discuss possible power outages with children's groups in advance so that they feel as safe as possible in case of an outage.

Note! The services of municipal building maintenance are chargeable to the institute, so please only call in case of real need.

Kauhava area:
In premises with electric locks, the doors will lock during a power outage. However, you can still exit normally from the outside doors. Follow the emergency exit signs to exit. After a power outage, everything should return to normal, and there is no need to contact building maintenance unless something seems abnormal. All alarms will go to building maintenance after the power returns if something remains non-functional. The building maintenance number is 050 594 7508.
