Phonics Progression And Overview.pdf

- Spring 2: Review Phase 3, with a focus on words with double letters, longer words, and words with two or more digraphs
- Summer 1: Phase 4, with new tricky words (said, so, have, like, some, come, love, do, were, here, little, says, there, when, what, one, out, today)
- Summer 2: Phase 4 graphemes, with a focus on words ending in suffixes (-ing, -ed, -est) and longer words

Year 1 students learn:
- Autumn 1: Review tricky words from Phases 2-4, and introduce Phase 5 graphemes (/ai/ ay, /ow/ ou, /oi/ oy, /ea/ ea)
- Autumn 2: Phase 5 graphemes, with new tricky words (/ur/ ir, /igh/ ie, /oo/ /yoo/ ue, /yoo/ u, /oa/ o, /igh/ i, /ai/ a, /ee/ e, /ai/ a-e, /igh/ i-e, /oa/ o-e, /oo/ /yoo/ u-e, /ee/ e-e, /oo/ /yoo/ ew, /ee/ ie)
- Spring 1: Phase 5 graphemes, with new tricky words (/ee/ y, /e/ ea, /w/ wh, /oa/ oe, /igh/ y, /oa/ ow, /j/ g, /f/ ph, /l/ le, /s/ c, /v/ ve, /u/ o-e, /z/ se, /s/ se, /ee/ ey)
- Spring 2: Phase 5 graphemes, with new tricky words (/ur/ or, /oo/ u, /air/ are, /or/ au, /ch/ tch, /ar/ al, /or/ a, schwa in longer words)
- Summer 1: Phonics screening check review, with no new GPCs or tricky words
