Summary

The SEN Code of Practice is moving from five to three stages for recording children on the SEN register. The new stages are easier to understand and focus on levels of provision: Stage One (school-delivered provision), Stage Two (school-delivered plus external provision), and Stage Three (statement of Special Educational Needs with school and EA-delivered provision). The change will happen over the next few months, with all children recorded under the new stages by October 2021, but will not affect the provision currently being made for individual children.
