Job Title: Support Worker (Early Learning and Childcare)

Location: Primary School
Responsible to: The Head Teacher

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide practical assistance to children and the wider childcare team
Undertake activities with children to promote responsibility, contribution, learning, and self-confidence
Ensure awareness and understanding of responsibilities and carry them out in a professional and effective manner
Adhere to relevant planning, policies, and procedures to support quality play and learning
Provide assistance to early years practitioners, parents, and children
Support children's confidence and individual abilities
Encourage parents and children to adhere to relevant policies and procedures

Person Specification:

Essential Attributes:
1. Previous experience of working with young children
2. Knowledge of Care Standards and the Care Inspectorate
3. Understanding of SSSC registration requirements
4. Ability to work on own initiative
5. Good communicator with children
6. Ability to respond calmly and efficiently in an emergency
Education and Qualifications: Registration with SSSC and accredited training
Skills/Attributes: Ability to respect confidentiality, knowledge of food handling regulations, and knowledge of first aid
Interpersonal and Social Skills: Ability to relate easily to adults and children

Special Conditions:

39 weeks per year plus allowance for holidays
Holidays should be taken during school holidays
