Two such principles are "the humility of reason" and "the vulnerability of authority". The humility of reason recognizes that human reason is insufficient to apprehend truth independently, and that Revelation is necessary, but also that reason must be applied to interpret Revelation, ensuring that reason remains humble. The vulnerability of authority is illustrated by the Talmud's willingness to reinterpret and creatively understand earlier texts, rather than simply accepting them as absolute, demonstrating that authority is not absolute and that all interpretations are subject to revision and reinterpretation.
