Chalton Lower School has developed a plan for reopening following government guidance. The school will initially reintroduce Nursery/Reception and Year 1 children, with parental choice on attendance. Children will be grouped into two 'bubbles' of no more than 15 children each: Nursery/Reception together and Year 1 separately. Each bubble will have dedicated staff who remain with the children all day without mixing with other groups.

Arrival times are 8:30–8:45 am for Year 1/keyworker children and 8:45–9:00 am for Nursery/Reception. Departure times are 3:10–3:20 pm for Nursery/Reception and 3:20–3:30 pm for Year 1. Parents are advised to walk to school on the same side as the school, drop children at the gate, then cross to their vehicles. Only one adult per child will bring them to school.

Children must wear school uniform (trainers accepted for short term), a coat daily, and water bottles only. Handwashing and sanitiser use will be emphasised throughout the day. Lunch will be provided in sandwich bags. Illness will require immediate isolation and parent collection. Staff will prepare for the next week's work on Fridays, possibly closing at 1:00 pm. Queries should be directed to the school office via email or phone; no Facebook responses will be provided. Updates will be shared daily. The school leader is available Monday, Wednesday, Friday (or Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday during half-term) for concerns.
