Summary

Mount Co-op Programs are accredited by Co-operative Education and Work Integrated Learning (CEWIL) Canada. The work experience report is required upon completion of each work term and is due on the date indicated in the Tourism Work Experience Terms and Conditions document. Late reports will not be accepted unless permission has been given by the Tourism & Hospitality Management Work Experience Faculty Advisor or the Co-operative Education Office in advance of the due date.

The report should reflect on personal growth as a student and a tourism & hospitality management professional, using concrete examples to explain and support thinking. It should cover academic, professional, and personal outcomes, including the application of classroom theory to workplace practice, career goals, workplace culture, skills and knowledge attained, confidence development, and lifelong learning skills.

The report will be evaluated by the Tourism & Hospitality Management Work Experience Faculty Advisor and will be given a pass or fail grade. It should be 10 pages in length, double-spaced, with margins of 1" to 1 ½ " and size 12 font. The report should be organized into sensible sections, including a title page, table of contents, executive summary, background information, reflection of work experience, developing as a student, and developing as a professional.

The reflection of work experience section should cover what was liked or disliked about the position, what was learned, and what would be done differently. The developing as a student section should cover how the experience influenced academic goals and concept of self as a tourism & hospitality management student. The developing as a professional section should cover how the experience influenced development as a professional, including observations and lessons learned about workplace language, etiquette, issues, work ethic, management styles, and organizational policies and procedures.
