Summary

TRUGS is a fun and challenging intervention for small groups of pupils to boost their understanding and confidence with decoding words, promoting good turn taking, language, and memory skills. The program consists of three main boxes with 5 stages each, totaling 15 stages, and an additional Box 0 for foundation stage pupils. TRUGS provides card games, such as Guess it, Match it, and Take it, to practice and reinforce decodable and tricky words using a phonics-first approach. Parents and carers can support their child by practicing letter recognition, sounding out phonemes, and playing games like I Spy and rhyming words. TRUGS also offers TRUGS PICS, a set of card games designed to inspire reading fluency and vocabulary, ideal for all Key Stages, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), and English as a Second Language (EAL) students. TRUGS PICS boxes contain decks of cards with pictures and words, grouped into categories to extend understanding and vocabulary.
