Die Adoption der Begriffe Kompetenz und Employability in den berufs- und wirtschaftspädagogischen Sprachgebrauch birgt die Gefahr, dass die epistemologische Klarheit und wissenschaftliche Produktivität zugunsten von Traditionalismen und inhaltsleeren Formalismen aufgegeben werden. Die Identität der Disziplin ist durch ihre Geschichte, ihre Methodologie und ihren Stellenwert im Gefüge der Wissenschaften geprägt und steht vor der Herausforderung, sich angesichts des Strukturwandels und der Krisen zu verändern und zu entwickeln.
