The article examines the results of a sociological survey conducted by students of the Faculty of Russian Philology and Culture of Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University in 2014. The study deals with cultural dominants in mass consciousness and external environment. The results allow for an analysis of the sociocultural positions of respondents and the degree of interviewers' engagement. The chosen themes reflect the interests of the generation of twenty-year-olds and are largely in line with the scientific interests of the Department of Culturology. The authors of the survey approached the "Personal Information" section differently, and some used it thoughtfully, yielding good results. The text of each questionnaire included important elements such as address, title, signature, and order of questions, which had significant meaning. Students usually maintained formalities in their interviews, choosing an average representative of the reference group.
