Learning Outcomes:
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- understand the basic principles of acid-base balance and familiarize themselves with basic terminology
- recognize the origin and causes of acid-base disorders
- categorize acid-base disorders and corresponding compensatory mechanisms
- associate each acid-base disorder with the corresponding clinical picture of the patient
- develop a logical approach to evaluating blood gas analysis results
- understand the function and usefulness of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium)
- evaluate the criticality of each electrolyte disorder and choose the appropriate therapeutic approach
- understand basic terminology such as triage, primary assessment, and secondary assessment in the diagnostic approach to evaluating a polytrauma patient
- understand the basic principles of evaluating, supporting vital functions, and managing pain in a polytrauma patient
- know the pathophysiology and management of conditions such as gastric dilatation-volvulus, cranioencephalic injuries, or status epilepticus
- know the basic principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in animals

General Skills:
The course aims to search, analyze, and synthesize data and information using necessary technologies.

Course Content:
Lectures: Introduction to acid-base balance and blood gas analysis, electrolyte disorders and management, initial management of polytrauma patients, pathophysiology, anesthesia, and analgesia in emergency cases, cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
