On March 19, 2021, a disaster prevention lecture was held online for approximately 120 junior high school students at Tsukuba University Affiliated Komaba Junior High School. The theme was information dissemination, disaster prevention and reduction, and environment. Two teachers from the Disaster Risk Research Department gave lectures, with Associate Professor Suppasri Anawat discussing "What you need to know to be strong against tsunamis" and Associate Professor Arikawa Keiko discussing "Disaster risk in coastal areas and changes in coastal topography due to the 2011 tsunami". The students asked various questions through the chat function, and the event was a meaningful opportunity for the school's and the institute's disaster prevention education program.
