The UT-Austin/Texas Tribune Texas Statewide Survey, conducted from February 7 to 17, 2014, polled 1,200 adults with a margin of error of +/- 2.83% (3.28% adjusted for weighting). The survey found that 53% of respondents were extremely interested in politics, and 32% voted in every election. The most important problems facing the country were the economy (17%), federal spending/national debt (14%), and political corruption/leadership (14%). In Texas, the most important problems were immigration (13%), border security (11%), and unemployment/jobs (9%). In the 2014 primary elections, 45% of respondents would vote in the Republican primary, and 32% in the Democratic primary. Greg Abbott led the Republican primary for governor with 88%, and Wendy Davis led the Democratic primary with 85%. John Cornyn led the Republican primary for senator with 60%, while the Democratic primary for senator was less clear, with Kesha Rogers leading at 39%.
