The Native CDFI Network (NCN) submitted comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, emphasizing the importance of including Native CDFIs in the effort to deploy greenhouse gas reduction technologies in Indian Country. NCN recommends that at least one of the selected hubs be a Native non-profit eligible entity and that the definition of authorized designated projects be expanded to include tribal housing energy efficiency and electrification projects. Additionally, NCN suggests that the EPA allow Native CDFIs to make both grants and loans for eligible projects and that the Solar For All Competition be expanded to include larger scale solar projects, as the current limitations may be unreasonably restrictive for Indian Tribes and tribal projects. NCN anticipates that Native CDFIs will collectively seek at least $350-$400 million in funding for greenhouse gas reduction projects in Indian Country.
