The 2000-01 CAAT Academic Workload Survey analyzed standard workload form records for full-time academic staff of Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. The survey, conducted by the Collective Bargaining Information Services, collected data from 22 of 24 colleges, with 13 colleges jointly verifying the data with their OPSEU local president. The survey found that 5,864 full-time academic staff were reported, with 96.4% being regular employees and 3.6% being coordinators or other types of employees.

The survey analyzed workload by function, including assigned teaching contact hours, attributed preparation hours, and attributed evaluation and feedback hours. It also examined teaching contact hours by position of responsibility, weekly student contact hours, and classification of courses by type of preparation factor and evaluation/feedback factor.

The report noted several limitations of the data submitted, including the exclusion of full-time employees on reduced or less-than-full-time workload, the potential underreporting of non-SWF academic staff, and discrepancies between the number of staff reported in this survey and the Council of Regents academic staff survey. Despite these limitations, the survey provides insight into the workload of full-time academic staff in Ontario's colleges of applied arts and technology.
