Summary

The Government of Pakistan has established a procedure for the acceptance and disposal of gifts received by government and public functionaries. Key points include:
- All gifts, regardless of price, must be reported and deposited in the Toshakhana of the Cabinet Division.
- Government functionaries, except those in BPS 1-4, are prohibited from receiving cash awards from foreign dignitaries.
- Functionaries, except the President and Head of Government, are prohibited from receiving gifts from diplomats, consular representatives, and foreign government representatives.
- Gifts valued up to Rs. 10,000 can be retained by the recipient free of cost.
- Gifts valued above Rs. 10,000 can be retained on payment of 20% of the value exceeding the basic exemption.
- Gifts valued at Rs. 1 million or more cannot be retained, except by the President and Head of Government.
- The maximum monetary limit for retention of gifts in one calendar year is Rs. 2.5 million.
- Unwanted gifts will be disposed of through periodical sales or sealed bids.
