Summary

The City of Auburn is hosting the 22nd-annual Mayor's Memorial Day Breakfast on May 30 at 8 a.m. at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The event will honor the nation's heroes and feature performances by the Auburn University Memorial Day Singers. Retired Army Lt. Col. James Witte will receive the Distinguished Veteran Award, and the family of Grady Jones will receive the Auburn Heroes Remembered Award. Tickets are $25 per person or $200 for a table of eight. A free memorial wreath laying ceremony will follow at 10 a.m. at the Auburn Veterans Memorial Monument.

The city is also hosting the 28th-annual Fishing Rodeo on May 14 from 7-11 a.m. at the lake at Auburn Technology Park South. The first 175 children will receive a free rod and reel, and prizes will be awarded for the biggest and smallest fish caught in each age category.

Additionally, the Auburn Police Department has launched the Eagle Watch program, which allows residents and business owners to register their security cameras to help solve crimes. The city will also be closed on May 30 in observance of Memorial Day, and garbage collection will be delayed by one day.

Residents are reminded to pick up after their pets to prevent pet waste from polluting the city's waterways. The city has also launched the Auburn FixIt app, which allows residents to report issues and submit requests directly to city staff.
