The 14th Street Streetscape Project in NW Washington D.C. involves the removal and replacement of existing pavement, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, as well as the installation of new water mains, fire hydrants, and streetscaping. The project scope includes resurfacing of asphalt pavement, replacement of traffic signals and street lights, and construction of new catch basins and bus islands.

During the week of 4/22/2019 to 4/27/2019, the contractor Omni continued to install new water service lines and excavate for fire hydrant installation. FMCC provided maintenance of traffic (MOT) for these operations and installed temporary traffic signals.

Ongoing issues include conflicts with Pepco and the removal of bus shelters. The project website is active, and community outreach activities are ongoing. The contractor did not request to work on Saturday, 4/27/2019. Quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) activities included compaction testing of backfill and aggregate base material.

There are 23 requests for information (RFIs) with 20 answered, and 77 submittals with 75 approved. Change orders and task orders include a contract time extension and a letter for bus shelter removal. The project has DBE/CBE participation from Hayat Brown LLC, Omni Excavators Inc., and Den United LLC.
