Summary

The American Waterways Operators (AWO) has renewed its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the American Chemistry Council (ACC) to promote environmental health, safety, and security performance through the Responsible Carrier Program (RCP) and the ACC's Responsible Care program. The MOA allows ACC's Responsible Care Partner companies to use the AWO's RCP audit system to meet certification requirements. AWO members can use multiple Third-Party Organizations (TPOs) for vessel audits, but only one TPO can issue a certification letter. TPOs are required to submit annual reports to AWO by June 30, 2017, and must notify AWO within two business days of contracting with a member for a management or vessel audit. An RCP Standards Board-TPO meeting is scheduled for August 14, 2017, to discuss the RCP and its administration.
