PANAMA CANAL New Tariff for Marine Services applicable starting January 2023. Transactions, deficiencies, and disruptions will now have a cost impact. Changes include:
1. Transit Reservation Date: modified fees for changes, with percentages of the reservation fee applied based on timeframes (e.g., 60% for 21-60 days, 70% for 7-21 days).
2. Change of booking slots: charge based on percentage of booking fee, with first swap free and modified fees for subsequent swaps.
3. Substitution of vessels: fees range from $500 (admin charge for >21 days) to 80% of reservation for 4 days or less.
4. Auction: cancellation charge increased to 100% of awarded slot.
5. Daily surcharge for high demand: 10% of booking fee for Neopanamax and Panamax plus vessels on designated high-demand days (initially Fridays).
6. JUST IN TIME applications: fees introduced ($2,000 for regular, $4,000 for super, $10,000 for Neopanamax vessels).
7. Transit Date Advancement: fees for early transits ($5,000 for Panamax, $10,000 for Neopanamax).
Part 2 introduces charges for operative deficiencies, including Port Captain inspections (levels 1-3, with fees $1,500-$5,000). Customers paying Canal Transit Cost are responsible for these extra fees, with ACP charging same-day costs.
