Summary

The Central Electricity Authority has given in-principle approval for the evacuation scheme for Yeramarus (2 x 800 MW) and Edlapur (1 x 800 MW) thermal power generation projects in Karnataka. The scheme will be implemented in two stages:

Stage-I will establish a 400 kV pooling station near BTPS, a 400/220 kV substation at Gulbarga, and 400 kV DC lines to link YTPS with the pooling station and other existing substations.

Stage-II will establish 400 kV DC lines to link ETPS with the pooling station near BTPS and YTPS, with alternatives for lines to Bastipura, Daberspet, or Tumakur. KPTCL will carry out further studies to finalize Stage-II. The scheme will be discussed and approved in the next meeting of the Standing Committee of Power System Planning of the Southern Region.
