The Haryana Government's Labour Department has introduced the "Haryana Silicosis Rehabilitation Policy" to provide treatment, compensation, rehabilitation, and welfare measures for workers affected by silicosis, an incurable occupational lung disease. The policy applies to workers in factories and construction sites, and eligibility is confirmed by the Silicosis Diagnosis Board. Benefits include free treatment, compensation, rehabilitation assistance of Rs. 5,00,000, assistance on death of Rs. 1,00,000, funeral assistance of Rs. 15,000, monthly pension of Rs. 4,000, family pension of Rs. 3,500, financial assistance for education, and assistance for marriage of daughters and sons. A separate corpus will be created to finance these welfare schemes, with 70% contribution from the Haryana Labour Welfare Board and 30% from the Haryana Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The Haryana Labour Welfare Board will implement and execute the policy, and workers can submit applications for welfare assistance to the Assistant Director, Industrial Health. An awareness program will also be launched to educate workers about silicosis.
