Summary

The British Columbia Turkey Marketing Board has rules and procedures for elections, which include: a regular election held at least once per year to elect one of the three mandatory members, with a term of office of three years; a special election to fill vacancies, which must be held within 60 days; and eligibility to stand for election, nominate candidates, and vote is limited to registered growers. The Board keeps a register of growers, and registered growers must appoint an individual to vote on their behalf if they are a partnership or corporation. The election process is overseen by a Returning Officer, who receives and validates nominations and ballots, and nominees must consent to being nominated and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
