Summary

The University of Southern Indiana's Board of Trustees met on May 3, 2013. The meeting was called to order by First Vice Chair Jeff Knight in the absence of Chair Ted C. Ziemer Jr. The board approved the minutes of the March 7, 2013, meeting and established the next meeting date for July 11, 2013. President Linda L. M. Bennett reported on the successful launch of the Campaign USI: Elevating Excellence and reviewed the Commencement activities planned for the weekend. The board also discussed the new core curriculum, which is scheduled to take effect in fall 2014, and the implementation of a state-wide 30 credit-hour transferable general education core. Awards to be celebrated during Commencement ceremonies include the Distinguished Professor Award, the President's Medal, and the Trustees Distinguished Merit Award.
