The US is obstructing progress on Loss and Damage (L&D) finance, which is owed to Global South communities for harm caused by climate change. Civil society organizations have criticized the US for its obstruction, stating that climate finance is not charity, but a debt owed by developed countries for the havoc they have wrought on communities in the Global South.
