Summary

Council Directive 2005/47/EC implements the Agreement between the Community of European Railways (CER) and the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) on working conditions of mobile workers in interoperable cross-border railway services. The Directive aims to ensure healthy, safe, and dignified working conditions, limit maximum working time, and provide weekly and daily rest periods and annual paid holidays. It allows Member States to maintain or introduce more favorable provisions and requires the Commission to report on the Directive's implementation by 27 July 2011.
