Summary

Ofcom and participating communication providers (CPs) and industry associations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to reduce the impact of unlawful nuisance and scam calls on consumers through voluntary co-operation on technical measures. The Participants will work together to establish the origin of calls, equip consumers to manage incoming calls, and take action against unlawful callers. They will provide monthly network monitoring reports to Ofcom, implement technical measures, and ensure compliance with Ofcom's General Conditions. The MoU is not legally binding and will be reviewed every two years. Participants include AQL, British Telecommunications Plc, Colt Technology Services, and others.
