The Community Planning Council, established by Greenwich United Way, aims to create an effective health and human service delivery system for Greenwich. A recent meeting featured a presentation on Dementia Friends Greenwich, which highlighted five key messages about dementia: it's not a normal part of aging, it's caused by a brain disease, it's not just about memory problems, people with dementia can have a good quality of life, and there's more to a person than their dementia. The presentation also covered types of dementia, early signs and symptoms, and communication tips. Council members supported an Age Friendly Greenwich by becoming Dementia Friends. The next meeting will discuss Basic Human Needs and feature The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education Services.
