Summary

Council of the European Union document 15130/16 discusses a proposed Directive on fighting fraud against the Union's financial interests through criminal law. A preliminary agreement on the full text was reached on November 30, 2016, and is pending confirmation by the institutions. The proposed Directive aims to protect the Union's financial interests by establishing a common definition of fraud and covering fraudulent conduct with respect to expenditure, revenues, and assets.
